Jesus (or those writing in his name) clearly thought the end was coming 2000 years ago. In Mark 9:1 Jesus speaks to the people "there are some of those standing here who will not taste death before they will see the kingdom of God already come in power." So the kingdom has already come or there are some 2000+ year old people walking around.
The rest of the new testament is full of statements that the end is near (remember this is 2000 years ago).
1 Cor 7:29 "..time we live in will not last long."
James 5:8 "..coming of Lord is near", 1 john 2:18 "..this is the last hour...antiChrists have appeared..." Jude 1:16, Rom 13:11, Mark 9:1, Matt 10:23, 1peter 4:7, Acts 2:15 and most telling of all in this context Revelation 1:1 "...what must shortly happen...hour of fulfilment is near."
For 2000 years Christians have been saying the end is near. For 2000 years they have been wrong. You are still wrong (thank God).
