The following appeared in an article by Alan Weisman “Is the earth striking back” on the CNN website on 23 April 2010.
“Both Iceland and the United States exalt democracy as a social achievement worthy of lasting an eternity. Yet the latter's unprecedented strength has derived not just from enlightened government, but from the release of its own hot clouds: exhaust from its vast industries, fleets and mechanized agriculture.
As we have learned, these gases form an invisible barrier that, like a greenhouse's glass ceiling, keeps reflected heat of the sun from escaping our atmosphere. The denser that gaseous barrier grows, the hotter things get and the faster glaciers melt.
As they flow off the land, we are warned, seas rise. Yet something else is lately worrying geologists: the likelihood that the Earth's crust, relieved of so much formidable weight of ice borne for many thousands of years, has begun to stretch and rebound.
As it does, a volcano awakens in Iceland (with another, larger and adjacent to still-erupting Eyjafjallajokull, threatening to detonate next). The Earth shudders in Haiti. Then Chile. Then western China. Mexicali-Calexico. The Solomon Islands. Spain. New Guinea. And those are just the big ones, 6+ on the Richter scale, and just in 2010. And it's only April.”
When I read this article I thought but it seems as if Revelation has actually already informed us that the affected “air”, the rising of the level of the sea are producing more earthquake and therefore the crust of the earth has begun to stretch and is responding.
Revelation
The great advancement of humanity in the last century has brought about unwittingly also a slow destruction process. The hot clouds and exhaust fumes from the advanced nations have affected the atmosphere (“air” Rev 16:17). The melting of the ice and the glaciers has caused a rising of the sea (Rev 16:20). This article reveals a new worrying factor, that the melting of the ice is going to trigger more earthquake and volcanic eruption of the crust of the earth.
This is what Revelation is revealing! The coming together of all that is predicted in Revelation at the time of the end. For this reason Revelation continuously brings all the aspects of the end time together.
Rev 16:17-21 When the air of the globe is effected it is the time of the end (Rev 16:17 “It is done”). The next verse. There will be a great earthquake (Rev 16:18). The cities of the nations will fall. The “fall” will be moral (nations no longer revere the message of the cross) and literally (earthquake will destroy the cities). The melting of the ice of the earth is going to trigger more bursts in the crust of the earth. The sea shall rise and people will flee the lowlying islands. This will be followed by “great hail” and illness (Rev 16:21).
Smoke of a great furnace
If we are going to see more volcanic eruption and darkness as a result of effects on the earth’s crust and greater amounts of volcanic ash in the air the words of Rev 9:2 (the sounding of the fifth trumpet) are revealing: “And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened, by reason of the smoke of the pit.” This verse has both a literal and a figurative meaning. A literal meaning as in the possibility of the effects of clouds with volcanic ash and a figurative meaning of the “sun” being the testimony of Jesus Christ (see Mal 4:2 “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings”). In the end the message of ‘light’ will be affected by modern man who has been misled and is blind (smoke) to the fulfillment of prophecy in that which is taking place around the globe.
