KATRINA
Now that the devastating waters of Katrina are subsiding we can consider how this powerful hurricane fits into the understanding of Revelation.
First and foremost Katrina, together with the two large typhoons, Nabi and Khanun, are the result of that which Revelation describes as the release of the “four angels” that were bound at the great river Euphrates in the sounding of the sixth trumpet: Rev 9:14 “Loose the four angels that are bound in the great river Euphrates”. These “four angels” relate to the “four angels” holding back the four winds.
Four angels holding the four winds of the earth
As explained in previous posts the meaning of Rev 7:1 “After these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree”, was revealed in hurricane and typhoon season of 2004.
West
In the hurricane and typhoon season of 2004 the “four winds” were revealed. With the knowledge of time measure in Revelation the four hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne that developed in the Atlantic Ocean and caused devastation on the islands and lands in their path in the short period of about six weeks in August and September 2004 came at a time that fulfils the time measures and prophecy of Revelation. Four winds appeared in two other section of the earth in the same season.
East
The devastation in the Philippines at the end of November and the beginning of December 2004 was the result of four storms (three tropical systems and the typhoon Nanmadol). These four windstorms with heavy rain came upon the islands within just two weeks.
South
Also in the Pacific region from the beginning of February 2005, four devastating cyclones [Meena (category 4); Olaf (category 4); Nancy and Percy] hit the islands of the Pacific Ocean: Samoa, Cook Islands and Tokelau islands.
North
In 2004, eighteen typhoons were spurned, compared to fourteen in a usual year. Six typhoons struck the islands of Japan during that year; the average number is 2.6. Many typhoons developed in the northern areas. Typhoons No.10 (Namtheun) and No.11. (Malou) developed near Japan and struck the islands of Japan, bringing more than 1000 mm of rainfall and caused severe flooding over the Shikoku area and the Kii Peninsula. The two typhoons brought one-fourth of the annual rainfall.
The only way that we can know that the groups of ‘four winds’ relate to those in Revelation is through the time measures of Revelation; the political happenings concerning the nations of the earth and the repetition of words in the construction of Revelation that verify time and place.
The angel ascending from the east
Revelation verifies the times of “four winds” with the words of Rev 7:2 “And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God, and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom was given to hurt the earth and the sea.”
In Rev 7:2 the angel ascending “from the east” reveals that the time of the holding back of the four winds is also the time of the sounding of the trumpets. We know this through the words “he cried with a loud voice to the four angels”. Exodus 19:16 “Voice of the trumpet exceedingly loud”.
The words concerning this angel: “from the east having the seal of the living God” reveals that in the time of the holding back of the four winds the words of Jesus Christ (“from the east having the seal of the living God”) are going to confirm the signs that appear in the opening of the sixth and seventh seals. In other words Revelation is revealing that the sounding of the sixth and seventh trumpets take place at the same time.
The signs of the opening of the sixth seal (and particularly the unusual emissions from the sun in October 2003 - “lightnings”) are linked to the words in Rev 8:5 “voices, and thunderings and lightnings, and an earthquake”.
The words of Rev 11:19 “and there were lightnings and voices and thunderings, an earthquake” relate to both the last time measures of the “measure of temple”, that was the time October to December 2003 and the last time measure of “altar” that was the time of the “short season”, 11 September 2001 to 22 February 2005.
The “lightning” in October 2005 was the unusual emissions from the sun in that month that could be seen in the Arctic regions. The ‘lightning’ at the end of February 2005 was the flow of the lava from Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii. Because these “lightnings” both related to time measure (“thunder”) and a specific earthquake (the ‘five months’ at the end of 2003 and the earthquake in Bam in December 2003) also the time of the ‘short season’, the “one thousand, two hundred and threescore days” and the earthquake in the seabed off the coast of Sumatra on 26 December 2004, they are the “signs” that reveal the fulfillment of the prophecy of the words of Jesus Christ in Mat 24:27 “For as the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Note: the words “cometh out of the east” relate to “ascending from the east”. For this reason this angel ascending from the east has the seal of the living God. The seven seals of Revelation all relate to the words of Jesus Christ - Rev 5:5 “the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the book”. This angel reveals that the words of Jesus Christ verify the opening of the sixth and the seventh seals that both relate to signs of “lightning”, one in the far west, Alaska and one in the far east Hawaii.
These signs up to December 2003 that reveal the end of the measure of “temple” and the signs up to 22 February 2005, that reveal the end of the measure of “altar” are verified through the words of Jesus Christ, concerning the Return. The signs herald the start of the time of the “outer court” when the signs of the end come directly from the throne of God at God’s time. Therefore Katrina came according to the understanding of the time measures of Revelation directly ‘from the throne’ (Rev 16:17) of God at this point in time which is symbolically in the “outer court”.
Hurt not the earth, neither the sea nor the trees
The angel ascending from the east says in Rev 7:3 “Hurt not the earth, neither the sea nor the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their forehead”. It seems that the servants of our God have been sealed at this point in time.
Katrina and all that is going to hurt the earth, the sea and the trees in the time to come are all signs of the wrath of the God.
Bound at the great river Euphrates
The four angels that held the four winds back were ‘bound’ at the “great river Euphrates”. This means that that which was taking place politically in Iraq in 2004 is a reason for the coming of the signs of the end. Revelation reveals in Rev 12:14 that the Christian Church (“the woman”) in the spread of the Christian faith to the ends of the earth would be “nourished for a time, times and half a time”. This means that the Christian Church would be taken care of until the end of the “three days and a half “ of the second millennium which comes to an end on 28 August 2003, the time of the “morning star”. 28 August 2003 also falls within the time of the “1260 days”, which is also “time, times and half a time”, in relation to ‘years’. Revelation is indicating that by 2004 the Christian faith had spread to the ends of the earth. The Christian faith, according to the Creed of Chalcedon spread to the Middle East in the time of the Crusades.
42 months
The time that the beast has ruled, that is the time that the full message of Christianity was held ‘captive’ under the international law of equalization of world faiths (symbolically the ‘great city Babylon’), is coming to an end. See Rev 13:10 “He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity”. See also Rev 13:5 “And power was given unto him (the beast out of the sea) to continue forty and two months”. This means till the time of the ‘short season’ that is also “forty and two months”.
Katrina seems to verify that the time that the earth and the sea and the trees are “hurt” is upon us.
Bam, Banda Ache and New Orleans
It should be noted that three large cities, in three parts of the earth, have been devastated by earthquake and hurricane in the past two years that are in the final times of Revelation. These destructions relate to the literal destruction of ‘great cities’ that are all part of the trading nations of the globe and that which Revelation combines in the “great city Babylon”.
The “hurt” of the earth, sea and tree also relates to the “hurt’ that the devastation of cities is doing to the livelihoods of those that live in the cities. Because the economies of the nations that are all connected in an Internet linked global village, the repercussions of a disaster can have far-reaching economic implications.
I think that the time has come for the nations to start praying that God spare his wrath on a world that has forgotten how Almighty God is involved in the day-to-day prosperity of man. How many storms and how much devastation is it going to take in the time of the “outer court” to open the eyes of the world to the prophecy of Revelation.
