Much Seismic Activity in April 2014

In my previous post I mentioned that April 2014 seemed to have unusual seismic activity, and today I read the article in the Mail Online that said the following: “Earth appears calm up until April 1 when a huge 8.2 magnitude earthquake rocks northern Chile. From there, the Earth continues to shake with another huge earthquake that hits the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. The activity doesn’t let up all month. But what is interesting, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre, is the sheer number of other earthquakes that weren't part of these two major clusters.
There were isolated larger-than-normal quakes all over the world—in Nicaragua, Mexico, Canada, and even an unusual one in the South Atlantic.

The 6.0-magnitude earthquake that jolted parts of Indonesia today (3 May 2014) served as a reminder of just how active the seemingly-solid ground beneath us can be. And these reminders have become increasingly frequent. On average, the world only sees one or two earthquakes per month that are 6.5-magnitude or higher. But April produced a higher-than-normal number of the major seismic events”

Annular solar eclipse

There was the annular solar eclipse on 29 April 2014 that was best seen from Australia and Antarctica.

Rev 6:12
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

Because Revelation 6:12 seems to combine earthquake with total lunar eclipse and darkening of the sun one wonders if these are in some way connected. Scientifically there seems at the present time no confirmation of such a connection.

The following answer was given to the question: ‘Can lunar eclipses cause earthquakes’ on the website: Answers.com. “There is no hard, widely accepted evidence that there is a connection. But the possibility bears study. Tides are of course connected to the lunar cycle, and tidal shifts make enormous differences when it comes to loads on parts of the earth's crust. Also, the earth-moon system has this interesting characteristic: The common center of gravity of earth-moon taken together, also called the barycenter, is within the body of the earth. [If you imagine that the earth and moon were of identical size and mass, then from above you would see them orbiting around the point exactly between them, the barycenter, as if they were connected with a cord.] The barycenter is beneath the surface of the earth and constantly moving within the earth, as a result of earth's rotation and the moon's orbit. The moon actually orbits around the barycenter, and so does the earth. There is a possibility that the constant moving of that theoretical point, along with the enormous weight shifts caused by water, may be enough to occasionally trigger quakes.

To be balanced, many argue that the physics of the barycenter is such that forces end up being balanced, and there is no way that the moving barycenter is responsible for triggering quakes. It would take very sophisticated knowledge of the physics and math involved to uncover the answer, but in the meantime there is no hard evidence on either side.”

Mail Online said the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre gave no indication to what might have been behind the huge change in seismic activity in April 2014.
