In 2016 a Black Hole can symbolically be a sign in the stars.
Taking into account that it has been said on this website that we are seeing the signs of the end time and it is said in Luke 21:25 that in the last days there will be signs in the sun, moon and stars one cannot overlook the existence of black holes in the universe that we know are imploded stars.

A supermassive
Scientists think that black holes formed even when the universe was beginning. Stellar black holes are made when the center of a very big star falls in upon itself, or collapses. When this happens, it causes a supernova. A supernova is an exploding star that blasts part of the star into space.
Taking into account the number of stars large enough to produce black holes, scientists estimate that there are as many as ten million to a billion black holes in the Milky Way alone. A black hole is a place in space where gravity pulls so much that even light cannot get out. There are billions of black holes big and small.
The largest black holes are called "supermassive." These black holes have masses that are more than 1 million suns together. Scientists have found proof that every large galaxy contains a supermassive black hole at its center. The supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy is called Sagittarius A. It has a mass equal to about 4 million suns and would fit inside a very large ball that could hold a few million Earths.
The bottomless pit
I think that a symbolic connection can be drawn between the black holes in space and the words “the bottomless pit” in Revelation. The gravity in a black hole is so strong because matter has been squeezed into a tiny space. Because gravity pulls in even light it could be considered a “hole” or ‘pit’ and because there is no coming out it is it could be seen as “bottomless”.
Rev 6:12 “The sun became black as sackcloth of hair”
In the opening of the sixth seal there are the words “the sun became black as sackcloth of hair”.
Scientists have assured us that our sun is too small to implode and become a black hole, but with our present knowledge of black holes these words can indicate an understanding of the formation of black holes from stars (today we know that a sun is also a star) and also have the additional meaning of ‘death’ through the words ”sackcloth of hair” which was in biblical times the material from which the garment for mourning the deceased was made. The opening of the sixth seal relates to the last days.
The number “six hundred, threescore and six”
With the knowledge that the number “six hundred, threescore and six” in Rev 13:18 relates to times of discoveries and achievements by man – times that were determined by God even in the time of the images seen by John on Patmos and the writing of the book Revelation at the end of the first century AD, we can know through faith in the truth of Scripture that it was also predestined that in 2016 man would be able to televise the existence of black holes across the globe.
Symbolic meaning
In contrast to the light of the Word, there is the dark side, Satan the evil one. In Revelation “the bottomless pit”, I believe, symbolically represents the existence of the dark side and Satan’s deception.
Revelation
In order to substantiate my view the positions of the words “the bottomless pit” in Revelation must be examined.
Revelation 9:1-2King James Version (KJV)
9 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
We cannot ignore the fact that smoke was recently observed at the opening of the big black hole in the Milky Way, Sagittarius A. Symbolically in Revelation the “sun” is the Christian faith. (Malachi 4:2 In this verse the coming of the Christ is referred to as coming of the “Sun of righteousness”). The darkening of the “air” (referring to earth) is the pollution in the end time. “The smoke of the pit” is Satan’s power to deceive man into thinking that his knowledge of the earth and the universe must undermine the existence and the greatness of God and the spiritual world.

11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
Abaddon’ and ‘ Apollyon’ mean “destroyer”. Therefore in Revelation, because these words are in the time of the sounding of the fifth trumpet, the ‘destroyer’ is Satan and all the forces of evil in play in the end time.

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
These words reveal how the “beast” (a massive symbol that reveals a guise or assumed appearance of Satan in Revelation that has been identified through the time measure of “six hundred threescore and six” years) would through previous centuries undermine the message of the witnesses of the testimony of Jesus Christ. The deception of the “beast” led the nations to wars that ultimately undermined the Christian faith.

20 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
These verses reveal that God has power over evil (“an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit”).
The “thousand years”
With my insight into the book Revelation the words: ”a thousand years” have to be considered very carefully. For generations many have interpreted Revelation and said that there is a time on earth that we shall live when Satan is bound. It has made some disregard Revelation because it always put Judgement way, way in the future.
I understand the repetition of “thousand years” in Rev 20:1-3 to mean the time from the coming of the Christ to the year approx 2000.
I understand the time that Satan was bound to be the time of the “beast” of Revelation. I say this because the word “beast” does not appear in Rev 20:2. Taking into account the total understanding of Revelation in the time of the “beast out of the sea” and “the beast out of the earth”
Satan’s influence was ‘controlled’ by God. In that time the Christian Church would spread to the ends of the earth and survive the onslaught of the “beast”. This is revealed in the words of Revelation, Chapter 12.

15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
After this Satan is let loose in the “little season”
I believe that we are living the “little season” and that Satan is let loose at the present time. It is also the time that the testimony of the two witnesses is trampled for the rights of man are put above the directives of Scripture.
A thousand years as a ‘day’ or a ‘watch’.
With the knowledge of Psalm 90:4 and how we can through science today observe what happened millions of years ago we have greater understanding that a thousand years can be as a day to God.

Through science and Scripture greater spiritual insight
At this point in time we can really appreciate these words of Psalm 90. When scientists determine and look at the formations of black holes millions of years ago we are also given greater spiritual insight into the ability and the power of God. Through the power of the Spirit and the knowledge given to man in science the symbols of Revelation are given greater and clearer meaning and the stars reveal the glory and power of God.
Hell
Revelation also uses the word “hell”. Revelation assures us that the Son of God, the risen Christ has the keys of hell.

The fourth rider of the apocalypse

8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
The Devine intercession revealed that the fourth rider of the apocalypse symbolically rides from the time 1947. After that time the ruling of the nations would lead to spiritual death (“Death and Hell”). Spiritual death will be caused by ‘sword’, ‘hunger’ and the influence or deception of the “beast out of the earth” and “the beast out of the sea” on mankind.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
The “bottomless pit” and “hell”
It seems that the “bottomless pit” is a symbol of Satan’s abode. “Hell” is used in conjunction with “death” - therefore a place from an earthly or mortal perspective - the place of some mortal souls, some even still awaiting judgement. Hell is ultimately going to be destroyed by God in the lake of fire.
