The subject of "The Disappearance of our Quiet Times"deserves some serious attention. The land-line telephone replacing the letter as the main means of distance-communication probably started the rot. Since then the means for other people to demand our instant attention have been aided by the cell-phone and the smart-phone loaded with Facebook and all the other peace-disrupting technologies that the software geniuses have been able to invent.

Quiet times are essential to a growing relationship with God. The basic instruction to "Be Still and Know that I am God" remains valid.

Books are starting to appear about 'change getting faster, faster', in other words about the pace of change increasing exponentially. In biological systems, when this happens disaster is around the corner. When lemming populations expand exponentially, the whole bunch of them end up throwing themselves off a cliff.

We humans sometimes behave as if the joke "One hundred thousand lemmings can't all be wrong" is actually the truth. We think that because we are all behaving in insane ways, it must be okay. Allowing electronic media to dominate one's life at the expense of one's quiet times is, in my opinion, a form of insanity.
