The sounding of the sixth trumpet (the time of the second “woe”)

I am astounded by the accuracy of the Book Revelation.

As happenings have taken place since the turn of the millennium (AD2000): great earthquakes, massive windstorms, war in Iraq (2003), in the area of the Euphrates, the meaning of Revelation seems to be coming together.

Revelation distinguishes between the area of the Euphrates and “Armageddon”. War at the Euphrates is to be the forerunner of the gathering to the battle Armageddon. This seems to be confirmed in the words of the casting of the sixth bowl of vile (Rev 16:12-16)

Revelation 16:12-16 King James Version (KJV)
Rev 16:12 “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
(This section was discussed in my previous post.)

The sounding of the sixth trumpet

Rev 9:14 “Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.”

The words “prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month , and a year” indicates that the precise time of the war at the Euphrates and ultimately Armageddon has been known to God for all time.

Rev 9:16 “And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

The horsemen

“The horsemen” in Revelation (Rev 9:16) represent the changes in the rule of nations over the past two millennia. The rider on the white horse: the unity of Christian Church and State that developed in the third century. The rider on the red horse represents the divisions and war between Christian nations and the time of the falling apart of the unity of the Christian State and Church from about AD790. The rider on the black horse (1896) represents the rule chosen by the majority of the citizens and by the rule of law. The rider on the pale horse (1947) is the ruling of the nations by the rule of law which Revelation indicates as a falling away of the faith (Rev 6:8 “and his name that sat on him was Death and Hell followed with him”).

Rev 9:17 "And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone."

Revelation is about the history of the nations

Through the word “horses” (symbolic of ‘war’ in the Bible) Revelation not only refers to the actual conflict at the Euphrates, but because the repetition of words is so important in Revelation, it includes wars of history and through the centuries that have ultimately brought mankind to the Euphrates conflict.

The wars were and are to the present day not without faith

“breastplates” and “jacinth” “

“breastplates” are symbolic of the armour of the soldiers, but also symbolic of the breastplate of the high priest of the Old Testament.

“jacinth” is a precious stone. On the breastplate of the High Priest were precious stones.

Note how Revelation incorporates the Old Testament.

Heads of lions

The “heads of lions” indicate the influence of the beast in the end time. It must however be remembered that the beast too is under the authority of God.

Rev 17:17 “For God has put it in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and to give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.”

Rev 9:18

Rev 9:18 “By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.”

The “fire” and the “brimstone” are symbolic of all the weaponry through the ages and also in the war at the Euphrates in recent time.

“by these three was the third part of men killed” - the “third part of men killed” is the symbolic total number of all the persons that fought in the wars through the ages to bring about changes – right up the war at the Euphrates.

19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

Mouth and mouths

Again the importance of the repetition of words in Revelation

The beast coming up out of the sea
Rev 13:5 “And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to forty and two months.”

Note the repetition of the word “mouth”. Revelation says in Rev 13:5 of the great power of the “mouth” of the beast coming up out of the sea. The word “mouth” relates to global communication in the end time that “speaks great things and blasphemies”. “Great things” are the great achievements of mankind - “blasphemies” the absence of the Christian faith in the achievements and actions of modern man.

The use of the word ”mouths” (Rev 9:17 “out of their mouths issued” and 9:18 “which issued out of their mouth” and 9:19 “their power is in their mouth”). These words seem to indicate that the nations went to battle to change the ruling of the nations because of the power of the ideologies (“and had heads” Rev 9:19) of the nations driven by the beast (“heads of lions” Rev 9:17 and “like unto serpents” Rev 9:19).

No change after the war at the Euphrates, the lawlessness continues and the focus is essentially on spiritless things of the earth and taken from the earth.

Rev 9:20 “And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.”
