Ever since the great sign of Revelation 12 appeared on 23 September 2017 I have been waiting for the Church to
recognize it. No such recognition has been forthcoming. The people I have talked to about the sign do not appear to
know much about it. So perhaps the time has come to post on this site some of the facts of the matter.
EVIDENCE FOR THE GREAT SIGN.
Revelation 12 vs 1-2 says: A great sign appeared in heaven - a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon at her feet
and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.
The evidence that the star formation that appeared in September 2017 is indeed the sign of Revelation 12 is based on
science. No astrology, no prophecy, no interpretation, just hard scientific facts. These facts come from a computer
program called Stellarium, which is widely used in the science of astronomy. Stellarium enables us to track
backwards and forwards in time the positions of the planets (wandering stars) in relation to the fixed stars.
Why can we be confident that the Stellarium-based evidence correctly identifies the Sept 2017 star formation as that
described in Rev 12? We can be confident for the following reasons:
1) The sign involves the Virgo constellation at a time when the sun is in Virgo. The moon is positioned near
the 'feet' of Virgo, or more accurately near the end of the 'stick legs' of the stick figure which is drawn by
connecting the stars that make up the Virgo constellation with straight lines. Near the head of the figure is the
constellation of Leo, which is made up of nine stars, but in this case the three planets Mars, Venus and Mercury are
also there, making up the 'crown of twelve stars'. This is a rare formation, a Stellarium search of 150 years before
Sept 2017 and a 150 years after producing no similar results. This is the 'static' part of the argument for the sign
being genuine.
