The apocalyptic message of Daniel through the knowledge of Revelation: Daniel chapters 10 -12

Introduction

This website

The time has come to speak very frankly. Like it or not, the message of this website that we are near the end time, has only been strengthened through events in the twenty-first century.

Global warming

In no way can only the scientific knowledge that we have today give the full perspective of the reasons for climatic changes in recent time. Every change is seen by most people to be part of global warming, happening because of changes in weather patterns or because man is neglecting or exploiting the environment. Politicians and the information networks of the world only take into account what science can tell them concerning these changes - faith, religion and prophecy are not brought to bear in current arguments and debates on the subject. Through policies of avoiding the issues of faith, through lack of faith or religious practice as well as the disbelief that God is at this time speaking through prophecy, the wider public is being deprived of any knowledge that through divine intervention and prophecy there is a God in control of what is happening at the present time. With the fulfilment of prophecy as shown on this website it is becoming bizarre to see which subjects with regard to faith are currently being debated in the media. It is being ignored that the apocalyptic message of Scripture is being revealed.

Too late.

Unfortunately one finds today a prophet around every corner. Many of these have no concept of the true meaning of Revelation. Many are just prophets of doom. People are totally sceptical of anyone who believes that they can possibly know if we are in “the season” of the end. I say “the season” for according to Scripture and Revelation this is all we will finally know. Any discussion on the subject of the end time is never really serious. Even at this point it is almost too late to study this website and all that has been said on it. The only ones that will be convinced to some degree that what has been said on this website is the truth are those that took notice in the beginning and actually experienced prophecy being fulfilled in the last some five years.

The accuracy of Scripture

The role that God is playing at the present time that is made known to us through the accuracy of prophecy can only be known through intensive study of this website. I could not previously have said this with such conviction, but what I have learned through Revelation and the final chapters of Daniel recently (particularly the words of Daniel 11:4 “four winds of heaven”) has given me the certainty that at some point soon we are going to have to consider the apocalyptic messages of Revelation and Daniel seriously and the role of God through prophecy within the debate of climatic change at this time. This unfortunately may only happen after some catastrophic event and then it may be too late. My strongest argument at this point in time is that happenings in recent years and currently, have only strengthened the message of this website.

Many would have thought that with all the theories of global warming, that after the record number of large hurricanes and typhoons in the time 2004 and 2005 there would in 2006 have been even greater and a larger number of storms. This has not happened. It seems that Revelation and the last chapters of Daniel give insight into why this has not happened.
I wish to illustrate this later in this post.

Nuclear proliferation

At the present time that the nuclear issue is playing an ever greater role in international relations and with the knowledge of Revelation that we are at this time moving to a final conflict is another reason why prophecy has to be taken into account.

Daniel, chapters 10 – 12.

These final chapters of the book Daniel are of the utmost significance in relation to the book Revelation and the present time. Without the knowledge of Revelation the full apocalyptic message of Daniel would not have been understood.

In Daniel, chapter 10, a description is given of the heavenly being that looked like a man, and appeared to Daniel while standing at the Tigris River. This heavenly being said that he would give Daniel a vision concerning the ruling of the nations in the Middle East in the coming time.

Similarities with Revelation in the description of the heavenly being

Dan 10:4-6 “And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hidekel (Tigris). Then I lifted my eyes, and looked and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: And his body was like the beryl and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as the lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude."

Dan 10:4-6 The words used to describe the heavenly being in Daniel are similar to those used in Revelation 1:13-15 to describe the Son of man: The use of the word “gold”: “loins were girded with fine gold”; “girt about the paps with a golden girdle” (Rev 1:13). The word “fire“ is also used: “his eyes as the lamps of fire” and “eyes were as a flame of fire” (Rev 1:14). The voices of both were loud: “the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude” and “his voice as the sound of many waters” (Rev 1:15). The similarity in the descriptions, I believe denote that as the God of the Israelites took care of the every move of the nations in the time of the Old Testament (known through the narrative of the angels), so too did the Trinity (known through the understanding of Revelation), and till today, control the ruling of the nations in the time after the coming of the Christ, the Messiah.

The heavenly being can touch.

The heavenly being touched Daniel: Dan10:10 and10:18. The Son of man touched John: Rev 1:17 “He laid his right hand upon me”. In both these visions it is made known that the heavenly beings were very real.

Archangel Michael

Of significance in chapters 9 and 10 is the way the heavenly beings are involved with the ruling of the nations in the time of the Old Testament: Dan 10:13 “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me (an evil force) one and twenty days: but lo Michael (who protects the people of God) one of the chief princes came to help me and I remained there with the kings of Persia.” Daniel 11:20 “And now I will return to fight with the province of Persia.” In Revelation is shown how the Trinity is in control of the ruling of the nations since the time of the coming of the Christ, the Messiah.

Rev 12:7 “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not, neither was there place found anywhere in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world.” In this verse in Revelation it is substantiated that the heavenly beings are still actively taking part in the conflicts of the nations in heaven and on earth after the coming of the Messiah.

In other words the links between Daniel and Revelation as shown above is to make those on earth know that the God of the Old Testament and the actions of the angels has not changed from the time of Daniel to the present time – the time in which we can understand Revelation.

History

This ruling of the nations as given to Daniel would have an impact on the Israelites. The prophecy is related in chapter 11. The history of the Middle East that would unfold according to this prophecy is related in many books. It is the time of Alexander the Great and his empire that would be divided into four parts after his death (323 BC). Two parts, Egypt and Syria, were under the rule of the Ptolemy’s and Seleucids, respectively. Israel was governed from Egypt by the Ptolemaic dynasty from 323-198 BC and by the Seleucids of Syria from 198-142 BC. The many conflicts between the Seleucids of the north and the Ptolemaic kings of the south are prophesied in Chapter 11. Daniel concludes his predictions with Antiogus IV Epiphanies (175-164 BC) in Daniel 11:35.

Four winds

It is of the greatest significance that in Daniel, chapter 11 it is prophesied that the territories of Alexander the Great were divided into four sections. I say this for the words “four winds” are used that also appear in Revelation: Dan 11:4 “And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven “: Rev 7:1 “four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth”. What this means is that the prophecy of Daniel, chapter 11, has also a symbolic meaning relating to the end time. There is an apocalyptic meaning to be found in the fact that the territories of Alexander the Great were divided into four parts and that the four parts are referred to as the four cardinal points of the earth. The prophecy of Daniel then continues to relate the history in respect of the ruling of the nations on the “north” and the “south”. The significance of the cardinal points of the earth that are mentioned will be discussed later in this post.

The short season

Unlike the prophecies of Daniel in chapters 7 to 9, there is in chapters 10 -12 only reference to one time measure relating to Revelation, which is the very last time measure, the time of the “short season”. According to Revelation the time of the final “short season” is the time that Satan is finally cast to earth. This is shortly before his final destruction. The time that the “four angels” (Rev 9:15) that hold back the four winds are ‘released’ in Revelation is also the time of the “short season”.

Focus on the final time

In a few verses in Daniel, chapters 11, words are used that have apocalyptic meaning in relation to Revelation. These appear where the heavenly being expands the coming happenings in the Middle East to relate to the apocalyptic happenings to come in the future time.

In Dan11:31, Daniel reveals an “abomination”. This “abomination” was likely the altar to the pagan god Zeus that was erected by Antiochus IV Epiphanies in 168 BC. Daniel uses words that are later used to describe the end time (Dan 12:11 “And shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate”). The reason for this being that apocalyptic literature ‘broadens’ a concept to make it a universal message. It is indicated that as the ruthless king in the history of the Middle East hurts the faith of the people so it will be like in the final fall of the nations. Those who have read my books and studied this website will know that Revelation reveals the “king” (Rev 9:11) or power of darkness (the “beasts” of Revelation) that will mislead the nations in the end time.

The words of Dan 11:36 relates to a “king” of the Middle East in the time prior to the birth of Jesus Christ, but the words used are similar to those used in Jude of the anti-Christ in the end time: “And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be accomplished.” Jude 1:16 ”Walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words”.

“Abomination” not the final season

It is of the greatest significance that the reference to the “abomination that makes desolate” in Daniel 11:31 (also Dan12:11) is followed by the information that is given in Daniel 11:40-45. The information in Daniel 11:40-45 is what happens AFTER the time of the “short season” that we can measure. According to my understanding of Revelation we have passed the time of the “short season” and are living in the time that is only known to God. Therefore what is related in Dan 11:40-45 is what is taking place at the present time.

From Dan 11:40 Daniel brings also the very end time into view.

In Dan 11:40 – 45 it seems that these verses pertain to anti-Christ (‘beasts’ of Revelation) in the last days. There will at the end time be a realization that an ideology exists that wishes to destroy the faith of the people of God. The rulers of the end time will try to overcome the influence: (Dan 11:40 “shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over”).

Like a whirlwind, with chariots and horsemen

These symbols (“whirlwind, with chariots and horsemen”) all have bearing on the symbolism of Revelation. We know today that the release of the four angels, which are bound in the river Euphrates (Rev 9:14-15), also holding the four winds (Rev 7:1) relates to a record number of strong hurricanes and typhoons in the time 2004 and 2005. It seems as if the ideology that rules the earth in the end time will reach the place of the river Euphrates and it will be the time of a record number of hurricanes and typhoons. This is of course exactly what we are seeing today with the unresolved situation in Iraq and the record number of hurricanes and typhoons in the time 2004 and 2005. With the knowledge of Revelation the image of “horsemen” conveys that the force of evil (that accompanies the spread of the true faith), that ultimately brings about the ideology (democracy or the rule of men) that rules the nations of the globe in the end time, develops over a long period of time. Through the word “horsemen” the prophecy of Daniel covers the entire time of Revelation, right up to the “short season”. It should also be noted that it was from the references to the “chariots” in Zechariah 6:6, that Scripture revealed the directions of the earth in which the symbolism of two of the riders of the apocalypse (on the white and black horses) had to be applied. The white horse went west and the black horse north. (This is explained in my books and on this website.)

Wars will wage between the anti-Christ and its political enemies. One cannot ignore the symbolism of the foes of the anti- Christ expressed in terms of the “king of the south” and “king of the north” who are in the context of earlier verses of the prophecy the enemies of the holy people. In other words at the end of days it will be the enemies of the holy people that will wage war against each other. This is the same in Revelation 20:8-10. Satan shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth and encompassed the saints of the earth.

Daniel refers in the end time to the “king of the south” and “the king of the north”. Revelation specifically mentions that the Gog and the Magog “went up on the breadth of the earth”, that would be the west and the east. In Daniel and Revelation it is revealed that in the end time the entire earth will be involved in the final battle of enemies of the holy people.

Dan 11:41 and 43: In the end time besides having authority from the four directions of the earth the anti-Christ will have commercial strength (“powers over the treasures of gold and silver”) and domination (“many countries will be overthrown”) in the Middle East and North Africa. Some will however escape his rule (“shall escape out of his hand”).

The apocalyptic message of Daniel covers the Middle East at the end time as well as bearing a message for the entire globe.

Daniel 11:44 “But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him therefore shall he go forth with great fury to destroy.” Note the similarity of the words “the Gog and the Magog went up on the breadth of the earth and encompassed the camp of the saints” and “he (the anti-Christ or the forces of evil as explained in Revelation) shall go forth …Dan 11:45 “and plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain”. In other words the final battle which is Armageddon will involve the place of the temple (“holy mountain”) in Jerusalem. The forces will finally come from all four directions of the earth.

North of Israel and North Korea in the East.

Because it has been shown on this website that the time of Rev 9:14 “release of the four angels” (Rev 7:1“holding back the four winds of the earth”) as prophesied in Revelation was the time 2004 and 2005 we cannot ignore that the 34 day war in July-August 2006 was between Lebanon that lies to the north of Israel. At this time it is a country in the east, North Korea that has defied international opinion that wishes to curb nuclear proliferation, by exploding a nuclear device on 9 October 2006. Daniel seems to be warning that at some point “tidings out of the east and out of the north” will make the forces of the anti-Christ determine to go to war (“go forth with great fury to destroy”).

In this way I believe that the prophecy in Daniel, chapter 11, that indicates the territory of Alexander the great in four divisions and with the references to “north” and “south”, is also a symbolic representation of the end time. The prophecy expands to bring to light the end of days. With the knowledge of the meaning of Revelation Daniel, chapter 11 gives more information of the end of days.

It was shown in the previous posts on Daniel, chapters 7 to 9, that the apocalyptic message of Daniel confirms the meaning of Revelation and seems to give more knowledge concerning the time measures of Revelation. This is also the case in the last chapters of Daniel.

Four winds

Therefore if the “four winds of heaven” as mentioned in Daniel 11:4, and “four winds of the earth” in Revelation 7:1 refer to the time of the “short season” that we can measure, the large typhoons and hurricanes that were seen in the time 2004-2005 will not necessarily blow in the time 2006. It was a time determined by God. In 2006 we are in the time beyond the time that we can measure and in the final time that is known to God. The final time is revealed through what is taking place at the present time on earth - particularly the relations of nations that are in this time “gathering to Armageddon” and “the supper of the great God” - Rev 16:16 and 17:19.

Daniel, Chapter 12.

Dan 12:1 “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince that standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as such as never was since there was a nation to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”

Dan 12:2 “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt.”

These two verses relate to the very end time, the end of the time that we cannot measure. Dan 12:1 is the time of “tribulation” mentioned Matthew 24:21 and Revelation 7:14.

It should be noted that the angel Michael stands up at that point in time to help the children of Israel. It should also be noted that in the last three chapters of Daniel only the final time of Revelation is mentioned. For some reason the only reference that is made to the other time measures of Revelation is in the word ”horsemen”. It seems that it is a prophecy of the absence of the knowledge of the coming of the Christ. As indicated in Revelation 7:14 some will wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb, some in the very end time.

Dan 12:3 “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.”

Dan 12:4 “But thou O Daniel shut up the words and seal the book even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

This is a prophecy that the full meaning of Daniel will only be known at the time of the opening of the book Revelation (Rev 10:4). People will cross the entire globe (“run to and fro” see also Zechariah 1:11) and man’s knowledge will increase greatly.

Dan 12:5 “Then I Daniel looked and behold there stood another two the one on this side of the bank of the river and the other on that side of the bank of the river.

Dan12:6: “And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was on the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

In the analysis of Revelation the words ”how long” in Rev 6:10 could only be understood through reference in Scripture and the knowledge of time measure in Revelation. This knowledge came from God the Trinity. The time of the opening of the fifth seal comes after the time of the “horsemen” and the “three days and a half”, the “time times and an half” of the second millennium and is the time of the “short season”. The words of Daniel seem to confirm that Daniel, chapter 12 deals with the “short season” of Revelation.

Dan12:7 ‘And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was on the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand up to heaven and sware by him that liveth forever that it shall be for a time, times and an half, and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all things shall be finished.”

The words “time, times and an half” lie at the heart of the understanding of Revelation. The time of “three days and a half” in Revelation relates to the words of Jesus Christ that were said at the temple in Jerusalem regarding the rise of the Christian Church (John 2:19). Without the knowledge of this time measure and all that it stands for in Revelation, Revelation would not have been understood today. I therefore believe that the appearance of the two other figures is a prophecy of the Trinity in the time to come.

It is also prophesied in Daniel, as is also revealed in Revelation that in the final days the power of the nations will not be in the hands of the holy people. The war of the end will be between the ‘king of the north’ and ‘the king of the south’, the ‘Gog and the Magog’.

Dan 12:8 “And I heard but I understood not, then said I O my Lord what shall be the end of these things?”

Dan 12:9 “And he said Go thy way Daniel for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end."

Dan 12:10 “Many shall be purified and made white and tried but the wicked shall do wickedly and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.”

Dan12:11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away and the abomination that maketh desolate set up there shall be a thousand, two hundred and ninety days.”

Dan 12:12 “Blessed is he that waiteth and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.”

These two time measures are an indication that before the final time of the end there will be a ‘short season’ of about three years and a half that we can measure. The time measures of Revelation are “1260 days” and “42 months” and were indicated on this website. The time of 1200 days was the time between 11 September 20001 and the great earthquake off the island of Sumatra on 16 December 2004. Therefore according to my understanding we are in the final season known only to God.

Dan 12:13 But go thou thy way till the end be; for thou shall rest and stand in the lot at the end of days.

In Daniel, chapters 10 - 12 there is a phenomenal link to the apocalyptic message of Revelation. The perspective of the final season that we can measure and the one to follow is amazingly broadened through the book Daniel.
