Are we in the time of the ‘gathering’ of the nations?
The word “gather”
The word “gather” is used seven times in Revelation: twice in Chapters 14, 16 and 19 and once in Chapter 20. Because the word “gather” is used twice in three chapters, and because the nations can currently not find peace, in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, it seems that Revelation may actually be indicating the two conflicts that are ultimately going to lead to a final war.
The repetition and placings of the word “gather” may reveal a coming together of these chapters at the present time.
Rev.14:18-20
“And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sickle, saying, “Thrust in thy sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.”
19 “And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress was trodden without (outside) the city and blood came out of the wine press, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs”
And another angel came out from the altar.
As I have shown on this Forum, I measured the time of “altar” (Rev.11:1 and 3 (1260 days)) from the star formation on 23 September 2017 up to 6 March 2021. I said that the war that started in Eastern Europe on 24 February 2022, may be indicated by the words of Rev.14:18. The words “out from the altar” indicating the end of the measure of altar.
The great winepress of the wrath of God.
The repetition of the word “winepress” and “outside the city” (referring to where Jesus was crucified) in
Rev.14:19 and 20 seems to substantiate also war in the Middle East.
Joel 3:13 “Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come get you down for the press is full, the fats overflow, for their wickedness is great.”
The ruling of the nations
The words “Even unto the horse bridles”, I believe to be key words to the understanding of these verses. The “bridle” of a horse symbolically represents the way the horse is steered. The symbolism of the four riders of the four horses of the Apocalypse, as I have shown on this Forum, represent the times of the way the nations would be ruled after the Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus Christ.
Outside Jerusalem
The wrath of God that has been evoked and the final battle therefore involves the ideological clash of how the nations have been ruled in the past two thousand years, but also the reminder of the place of the Crucifixion of the Christ outside the city of Jerusalem.
The word “gather” is also used twice in Rev.16:13-16
Rev.16:13-16
13 “And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to battle of that great day of God Almighty.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”
I have written extensively about these three verses on this Forum. At the present time I wish to highlight the fact that, I believe, Rev.16:13 (also Rev.13:15 “And he had power to give life to the image of the beast” and Rev. 6:8 “And power was given unto them over the fourth part of earth”) reveals (through the words “like frogs”) man’s expertise in the genetic sciences that have brought about experimentation to create a human being. I also connected this to “It is done” (Rev.16:17).
It seems the inhabitants of the earth have at this point in time evoked God’s anger and the nations “gather to battle” in two wars.
Also war in the Middle East is predicted “into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”
“Gathered together”
The words “gathered together” used in Rev.19:17-19 seems to indicate a combination of the forces of two wars.
Rev.19:17-19
17 ”And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18 That you may eat the flesh of the kings, and the flesh of the captains, and the flesh of the mighty men, and the flesh of the horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.”
Conflict extends eastward and Jerusalem under fire
With the attack on Russia which extended right up to Irkutsk, and intensification of the conflict in recent weeks, notice should be taken of the words “And they went up on the breadth of the earth.”
Rev.20:7-9
7 “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison.
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea,
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and encompassed the camp of the Saints about, and the beloved city;”
At this point in time one can well ask are the nations gathering and “How near Armageddon?”
