Hurt not the oil and the wine
The opening of the third seal
Rev. 6:5-6 “And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”
A note of caution
It seems that Revelation sounds a note of caution through the words “hurt not the oil and the wine”.
God already knew
I have shown in my books and on this Forum, that I believe, that the great message of the Revelation of Jesus Christ is that God, the Father, already knew when John was on Patmos (c AD 92) the course that the nations would take in the following some two thousand years.
Jesus
Rev. 12:5
“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule the nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up to God, and to his throne.”
The time of the opening of the third seal
1896
With my understanding of Revelation I believe that the time of the opening of the third seal (made known to me on 22 August 1996) relates to the year 1896.This was not only revealed to me, but I believe, has been proven by the course of the history of the nations.
The rider with a pair of balances (scale) in his hand.
How great the symbolism of Revelation! The balances or scale in the hand of the rider on the black horse, symbolic of the ‘weight of the majority’ and the ‘rule of law’ that would after 1896, determine the rule of most nations in the twentieth century and after. The scale, also, symbolic of the weight of the goods so significant in the increasing global trade post 1896.
Global trade
In history, the time 1896 was the time that the powerful trading nations of Europe, but also the colonized new nations of the globe began to realize the strength and wealth of the trade in minerals taken from the earth. More significantly the opportunities of ruling the nations which this wealth affords.
Global trade in its infancy
Through the words “A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny;” Rev.6:6, I believe Revelation indicates both the trade of nations in its infancy and uncomplicated as well as poverty in the nations.
“And see thou hurt not the oil and the wine”
Through the twentieth century and at present, these two commodities, oil and wine, have proved significant in competitive global trade and also in the quest for global power.
Caution
With the words “and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine” Revelation is cautioning the nations as to the implications of trade in “oil” and “wine” for these two commodities again appear in Revelation, chapter 18:13, as products, amongst many others, that at some point in time, “no man buyeth” Rev.18:11.
Rev. 18:11-14
11 “And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.”
Caution at this point in time?
