Revelation, 11:11-13 “And After three days and a half” and the “Second woe”

Rev 11:11 “And after three days and a half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.”

In this verse Revelation reveals that it is from the end of the time of “temple”: “And after “three days and a half” we are in the time of the final seasons. There will be a realization through the book Revelation and the signs of the end that the “two witnesses” were carrying the true message (“they stood upon heir feet”).

The interpretation of this verse could be quite simply be that when the time of the “three days and a half” has come to an end, there will be no question that all those persons that carried out the message of salvation through Jesus Christ, through the past two millennia, were the bearers of the absolute truth. This will happen when the peoples of the nations realize that the signs of the end are a reality, that all the words of Jesus Christ are the truth. The reference in Acts 2:43: “And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles”, reveals that it will be realized that only the working of the Holy Spirit could have revealed the understanding of the “three days and a half” and the signs of the “short season”. It may not yet be the time of the resurrection of the dead, but the world will know that there will be a Judgment and a Resurrection.

Rev 11:12 “And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.”

This verse moves into the final time of the “outer court” the time that we cannot measure. It reveals the resurrection of the true witnesses through all history (for the true witnesses were revealed in the previous verses) and in the final time. The word “voice” reveals that the Resurrection will happen in keeping with the revelation of time measure in Revelation. It will happen in the time of the “outer court” that we cannot measure, but the signs of the end that remain will precede the Resurrection of the dead. In the end time the enemies of the faith will see their ascension.

Rev 11:13 “And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.”

Note “The same hour”

Rev 11:11 and 12. Rev 11:11 begins at the time “after three days and a half” (that is the beginning of the final short season that we can measure) and moves to the time of the “outer court” and the rapture in Rev 11:12 (the time we cannot measure).

Repetition of the word “earthquake”

At this point in time we know that there was the great earthquake (the Sumatra-Andaman earthquake) in the time of the short season that we can measure. Does “same” indicate another earthquake in the season that we cannot measure? The repetition of the word “earthquake” seems to indicate that there is another great earthquake to come. We shall only know this for sure when and if, it happens.

A tenth part of the city fell

The words “tenth part” is symbolic and means “third” of the entire globe. The “great earthquake off the coast of Sumatra affected a “third” section of the globe. We know this from “tenth” which means a third part.

And in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand.

The number “seven thousand” is also symbolic. People of many nations were killed or affected, therefore “thousand” - people from “three” parts or sections of the earth. The “seven” in “seven thousand” reveals that we are in the time of “seven”, that is the “seventh bowl of wrath”.

Therefore in Revelation, chapter 11, Revelation linked the carrying out of the true message of Jesus Christ, through the past two millennia through the word “two” – “two witnesses” and two millennia. The two millennia are also the time of the two time spans of “three days and a half”. After that time there are two “short times” (“0ne thousand, two hundred and threescore days” and “forty-and two months”) and ultimately a time that is only known to God. It is only with the full understanding that this is what Revelation, chapter 11 is about that we can understand the final part of the chapter that deals with the final “woe” and the sounding of the seventh trumpet.

Rev 11:14 “The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

It was only after the “great earthquake” off the coast of Sumatra on 26 December 2004, that is was realized that “1200 days” had passed since 11 September 2001. The ‘happening’ of the “first woe” was therefore the attack on the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001.

Therefore, we can better understand Rev 11:13 that mentions “the great earthquake”. It was only after the “great earthquake” on 26 December 2004, that it could be realized that the “great earthquake” (Rev 11:13) was actually the end of the “second woe”.

At this point in time Rev 11:14 “The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly”. Revelation is in this verse moving back (Rev 11:11-13 are about the final time that we cannot measure and still has to happen) to the time 26 December 2004 in this verse (Rev 11:14). The chapters and sections of chapters of Revelation are not chronological. Revelation is only understandable through knowledge of time measure, knowledge of the history of the world, the relationship of the words of Revelation to Scripture, and the repetition of its words that expand the meaning. This knowledge of Revelation is going to be essential in the understanding of the sounding of the seventh trumpet.

The meaning of “woe” in Revelation relates to both time measure and Scripture.

The words “woe”, “woe”, “woe” relate to the time “one thousand, two hundred and threescore days” (Rev 11:3).

The first, second and third “woes” relate to the time “1000, 200 and threescore days”, that have the digits or numbers “1”, “2” and “3”. We can only know this with the knowledge that “1260 days” relates to the time 11 September 2001 to 22 February 2005. The great earthquake in the seabed off Sumatra was on day “200” of that time measure. Therefore the earthquake indicated the end of the “200 days”. Therefore “the second woe is passed, and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly”.

Laws of men

As mentioned in the sounding of the fifth trumpet in a previous post the word “woe” relates to laws of men coming in the way of the laws of God. To understand this we have to go to the words of Jesus Christ. Mat 18:7 “Woe unto the world”. The three woes relate to the entire earth. Mat 23:13 “Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees”. The scribes of the time copied the written law, but they also wrote down rules made by authorities, which made up what was called the oral law. They had in this much room for the hypocrisy for which Jesus Christ denounced them in company with the Pharisees. “Woe” holds the meaning of falseness or an inaccuracy in the law of men. Mat 23:24 “woe you blind guides”. The laws of men are misleading.

In 2004 the Western nations passed laws that are contrary to the laws of God. From my understanding of Revelation these relate to the legality in Christian nations of same sex marriage (“Sodom” Rev 11:8) and human cloning. Revelation I believe reveals that the legal acceptance of human cloning and to abortion on demand (“power to give life” Rev 13:15) as well as interference in the creation of creatures of the earth (Rev 16:13 “three unclean spirits like frogs”) is that which will ultimately bring the nations to a final battle (Rev 16:14: “to gathered them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty”).

Second woe

There are three sections of Revelation that are part of the second woe: the sounding of the sixth trumpet, Chapter 10 that deals with the mighty angel with the little book and Chapter 11:1-13. The reason for this is that all these sections finally relate to the time of the “200 days”, that is the time 7 June to 26 December 2004.

In the time 7 June to 26 December 2004

The sounding of the sixth trumpet, that indicates the release of the “four angels” holding back the four winds of the earth, and the culmination of the time measures in Revelation in the conflict in the area of the Euphrates River (Rev 9:14 “Loose the four angels that are bound in the great river Euphrates”).

In the time 7 June to 26 December 2004 it was realized that we were in the time of massive hurricanes and cyclones and it was realized that the war in Iraq was not coming to an end.

Chapter ten, in the book Revelation, is also part of the “second woe”. This chapter deals with “another mighty angel” (Rev 10:1), who has in his hand a “little book”. This book is the book Revelation. The reason that Chapter 10 it is placed in this position in Revelation is to show that at the time of the second woe, that is, in the time that the four angels are “loosed”, the book Revelation will be opened and its symbolism will have bearing on what is taking place on earth.

Chapter 11:1-11 is also part of the second woe.

Why does Revelation place chapter 11, verses 1-13, that I have shown relates to the entire time that the true witnesses carried the message of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth and to the ultimate point that they are taken up to heaven, before announcing that the second woe has passed? I believe there a number of reasons for this. Firstly Revelation wishes to reveal that the true witnesses lived in their faith and as part of the ‘body’ of Christ would be taken up to heaven in the time of the Resurrection, in the final time that we cannot measure. They seem to be apart from the revelations of the “woes”, but they are not totally apart for they fall within the revelations of the “second woe”. Revelation reveals that in the end time the true witnesses will have enemies (Rev 11:12 “And their enemies beheld them”). Revelation seems to indicate that those who are part of the body of Christ will definitely arise to heaven as he did. The true witnesses will still be part of those who experience the final signs revealed in the casting of the seventh vial and the sounding of the seventh trumpet.

As mentioned above, at this point in time Rev 11:14 “The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly”. Revelation is in this verse moving back (Rev 11:11-13 are about the final time) to the time 26 December 2004 in this verse.

The third woe

I believe that we are presently in the time of the third woe. The time of the third woe is from 26 December 2004 to some time in the near future.

The sounding of the seventh trumpet

The sounding of the seventh trumpet therefore I believe starts on 26 December 2004.

The reason why I gave the whole analysis of Revelation, chapter 11 verses 1:14 was to show how Revelation is going to substantiate the time measure of Rev 1-14 in the sounding of the seventh trumpet. I believe that the time of the sounding of the seventh trumpet (and the casting of the seventh vial) is also the final time that we cannot measure.

Rev 11:15 “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying: The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. 16And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, 17Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.”

The significance of this verse lies in the words that are repeated elsewhere in Revelation. In this way we can determine and substantiate that the sections of Revelation with the same words happen at the same time.

“And the seventh angel sounded”

Through the word “seventh” the sounding of the seventh trumpet and the casting of the seventh bowl of wrath are at the same time. These times are also the final part of the opening of the seventh seal.

“And there were great voices in heaven”

The words “great voices in heaven” relate to “a great voice out of the temple of heaven” (Rev 16:17 – the casting of the seventh vial).

The words: “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and his Christ” seem to confirm that Revelation reveals that the times of ruling of the nations in the second millennium on earth (“kingdoms of this world”) are linked to the New Jerusalem, through the colours of the gemstones of the foundations of the wall of the city (Rev 21:19-20).

It is then that the world will realize that the signs of the end that were predicted in Revelation have occurred. Then the inhabitants of the earth will realize that the New Jerusalem is a ‘reflection’ (Rev 21:18 “Like unto clear glass” and 21:21 “As it were transparent glass”) of the “temple”, that is of the two thousand years of the rise of the Christian Church on earth. (“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ.”)

In other words in the time after 26 December 2004 there will be an understanding of the book Revelation and its analysis through time measure in history and to the ruling of the Christian nations. Rev 11:16-17 confirm that Revelation reveals how great God is in that he has ruled the nations on a specific course in the past two thousand years. Also that what has happened in the past two thousand years was in God’s plan “from the foundation of the world” (Rev 13:8 and17:8).

The seventh angel sounds when the signs of the end are revealed.

Rev 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

This verse reveals the hardship that the nations suffer (“nations were angry”) as a result of extreme weather in the time 2004 and after.

Small and great

Why the words “small and great” confirm the time 2004.

The words “small and great” occur in five positions in Revelation Rev 11:18; 13:16; 19:5; 19:18 and 20:12.

Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

In Rev 13:16 the words “small and great, rich and poor, free and bond” relate to the 144 years measured back from 2004. In the year 2004 legislation was passed in the United Kingdom to allow human cloning (“small”). It was also the time of the “great earthquake” on 26 December 2004 (“great”).

The words “rich and poor” seem to indicate the year 1932, the year of the Great Depression, but it also indicates the year 1566 when the foundation stone of the London Stock Exchange was laid. The Great Depression was caused by the fall of the Stock Exchanges of the Western World. Revelation is revealing the beast in relation to trade among the nations. In order to advance trade and eliminate religious differences between nations the merchants of the West would propagate the concept of an equalization of world faiths or the acceptance of a ‘Supreme Being’.

We know that in 1860 the American Civil War was fought for the freedom of the slaves in the Southern States of the United States of America. Therefore through the words “small and great, rich and poor, free and bond”, Revelation is measuring 144 years back from 2004.

The reason why Revelation measures two periods of 72 years here, is to indicate the link of the year 1932 to the time 1860–2004 and also to the "the number of man". Therefore everyone who placed his political, moral and economic "freedom" above the laws of Christianity in the time 1860–2004, will carry the mark of the beast. It shall be seen that the words, "great and small” are also used later (Rev 20:12) at the time of judgment. The reason for this being that human cloning or interference with creation of man and the creatures of the earth is ultimately the reason for the Return and the time of judgement.

Rev 19:3-5 “And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. 4And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.”
And her smoke rose up for ever and ever
Revelation uses the word “smoke” in relation to the fall of the great city. In order to understand the word “smoke” we have to see where it is used in previous verses in Revelation. It is used in Revelation 8:4 in relation to the “smoke of the incense which came with the prayers of the saints” and “ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.” The symbolic meaning of “incense” is “that prayer be acceptable to God”. In other words it was the time that God heard the prayers of the faithful. This was the beginning of the time of the “1260 days”, that is 11 September 2001. The word “smoke” is also used in Rev 9:2 “and there arose a smoke out of the pit” which was the time of the “short season” in which Satan is finally cast to earth.

With the repetition of the words “smoke” and “small and great”, Rev 19:3-5 is indicating the time of the 1260 days. The ‘1260 days’ are incorporated in the information given in Revelation, chapter 11.

Rev 19:18 “That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.”

The section of the opening of the sixth seal (Rev 6:12-14) that reveals the time August to December 2003 [New readers should refer back to the post on this Forum concerning the opening of the sixth seal] is followed by the words of Rev 6:15. “And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and every bondsman and every free man, hid themselves in the in the dens and the rocks”. In Rev 19:18 there is a repetition of the sequence “kings”, ”captains”, ”men”, “bondsman” and “freeman”. This verse follows Rev 19:17 that relates to “all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven”. Rev 19:17 “And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God.”

At this point in time (2007) it seems that “an angel standing in the sun” relates to the time that we cannot measure, but also a time of global warming (“sun”). The word “fowls” relates to the time of “bird flu” and the time that the nations are gathering to the final battle. The word “fowls” also relates to Rev 19:2 “every unclean and hateful bird” which is part of the way Revelation describes the forces of evil at work in the “great city Babylon” which is the accumulative word for all the nations of the earth in the end time that have been taken over by the ideologies of man that was deceived by Satan in the forms of the “locusts”, the “dragon”, the “beast out of the sea”, the “beast out of the earth”, and the “great whore”, all of which have been identified in my books and on this website.

Following Rev 19:17, it is said in Rev 19:18 “ That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of them that sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both great and small.”

The sequence of the words “kings”, “men”, “captains” etc in Rev 6:15 indicate how the ruling of the Christian nations and peoples moved from the rule of kings (from Constantine in the third and fourth centuries to the last kings of Europe) to ships captains in the age of the discoveries of new lands and military leaders (“captains”) and ultimately powerful men in the twentieth century. This progression from the rule of kings to the rule of men would bring about a division between state and church and a gradual falling away in the nations from the belief that the way to the Father is through Jesus Christ.

The repetition of words “kings”, “captains”, etc. and in Rev 19:18 together with “that ye might eat the flesh of “ enhances the meaning above to show the wrath of God, in the form of plagues brought about by global warming, but also the final conflict of the nations. These are the final signs of the wrath of God for the nations moved to separating the ruling of the nations from the laws of God. The symbol that conveys the unity of the Christian Church and state in Revelation is the symbol of the rider on the white horse wearing the crown (“make war against him that sat on the horse and against his army” see Rev 19:19).

The massive death and slaughter of birds in the Far East and elsewhere on earth since 2003 also fits into the time frame of the 1260 days 11 September 2001 to 22 February 2005. Revelation links the opening of the sixth seal Rev 6:15 to what is revealed in Revelation 19:17-18. Both the opening of the sixth seal as well as Revelation 19:17-18 link to the time 2003 and to the time of the final season that we cannot measure.

It should be noted that the words “small and great” do not appear in Rev 6:15, but are in Rev 19:17. This is an indication of the accuracy of Revelation and why the wrath of God was through the centuries upon those who would add or take away from the words of Revelation (see Rev. 22:18-19). The addition of the words “small and great “ to the progression of the words “kings” “men” “captains” etc in Rev 19:17 seems to confirm the year 2004. From that time Christians can know that Revelation is being fulfilled in the time to come – in the season that we cannot measure.

All that has been said above shows how the entire meaning of Revelation is held together by its words.

Rev 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

It seems that we are in the time of the final ‘gathering’ of the nations to what must be Armageddon.

Rev 20:12 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God, and the books were opened.” Revelation is indicating through the words “small and great” in this verse, the time of Judgment of all persons. It indicates also that we cannot measure beyond the time of the ‘1260 days’.

“And shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth”

This last section of Rev 11:18 (the sounding of the seventh trumpet) relates to man’s role in global warming. Readers should refer to the post on this Forum “Revelation predicts and confirms man’s contribution to global warming”

The word “destroy” is repeated in this verse. The word “destroy” has also to be brought into relation with Rev 9:11 in which the words “Abaddon” and “Apollyon” appear that mean “Destroyer’. According to my analysis of Revelation Rev 9:11 pertains to the time beyond 2001 – the time that we are seeing definite signs of global warming and the time that Satan is at the zenith of his deception.

Rev 11:19 “And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.”

“And the temple of God was opened in heaven”

The words of this verse reveal that Rev 11:19 relates to the time of the final season

The words “the temple of God” is used elsewhere in Revelation. It is from the use of “temple of God” in these positions that we can understand the meaning of this verse: Rev 11:1 “measure the temple of God.” The “measure” of the temple relates to the understanding of the rise of the Christian Church on earth in the past two millennia. This is substantiated by Rev 21:22 “And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it”. This verse reveals that there is no “temple” in the New Jerusalem (which is ultimately life after death) for the word “temple” in Revelation relates to the growth of the Christian Church on earth.

“Opened”

It will be through the measure of “three days and a half “(‘measure of temple’) that the nations will realize that the end time is at hand: the time of the “temple” in the understanding of Revelation. This is substantiated by the words of Jesus Christ (Mat 12:40-41): “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.“ These words mean that in “three days and a half” of the second millennium, the Son of man (testimony of Jesus Christ) will be carried out under an accepted or desired (“heart”) ideology of man (“of the earth”). As people would think that Jonas should have died during the three days and nights that he was in the whale’s belly, so shall people think that the Christian faith would be undermined and destroyed in the time of the second millennium. But not so God was in charge and Jonas lived. So did God protect his Church during the time of the transference from the rule of kings to the rule of men and in the time of the great discoveries of the twentieth century that man thought that he could crush man’s dependence and faith on a God of Creation. So shall the signs of the end come (which I believe we are seeing at the present time) as predicted in Scripture and the faithful in Christ (“the two witnesses”) shall ascend in the end time to God in a cloud (Rev 11:12). This resurrection shall be seen by those on earth (Rev 11:12 “And their enemies beheld them”).

The word “heaven” has more than one meaning here.

This is substantiated through Scripture and the understanding of the entire Revelation.
Jeremiah 31:37 “If heaven can be measured and the foundations of the earth be searched out beneath”. This is an extremely significant verse in the understanding of the symbolism of Revelation for it reveals that the word “foundations” can relate to “earth” as was shown in my method of placing the colours of the gemstones of the foundations of the wall of the New Jerusalem on times in the history of the Christian nations of the earth. It also reveals that the word “heaven” can be a measure of time. I believe that the word “heaven” in Rev 11:19 “was opened in heaven”, relates to the final time that we can measure. It also relates to the final time that we cannot measure, but that we shall measure when it is time for the Return and the resurrection of the dead and the living.

Because the understanding of Revelation seems to be coming together at the present time, it substantiates to me that we are in the final time.
