2007 – a time of great earthquake

After all that has been said on this website, it should be noted that we are seeing “great earthquake” at the present time.

On average, the Earth produces about one magnitude-8 or larger earthquake per year, and about 15 to 20 magnitude-7 earthquakes per year.

There have been four magnitude-8 earthquakes in 2007

Kuril Islands

The first great earthquake of 2007 was an 8.1 magnitude quake that struck east of the Kuril Islands between Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula and the coast of Japan (Hokkaido Island) on 13 January 2007.

An 8.1 undersea earthquake hit near Solomon Islands and sent a Tsunami barraging into the area on 1 April 2007. It was centered about 350 kilometres west-northwest of the capital city of Solomon Islands, Honiara, at a depth of 10 km. Waves of about 10 feet high churned by the earthquake struck Gizo, a town located in western Solomon. The huge waves inundated the buildings and caused much destruction. Many aftershocks were felt.

The Solomon Islands arc as a whole experiences a very high level of earthquake activity, and many shocks of magnitude 7 and larger have been recorded since the early decades of the twentieth century. The April 1 earthquake, however, nucleated in a 250km-long segment of the arc that had produced no shocks of magnitude 7 or larger since the early 20th century

In mid-August, a magnitude 8.0 quake near the coast of central Peru that killed more than 500 people. This great earthquake was followed by many aftershocks but three large tremors: two of magnitude-6.0 and one 6.3.

The magnitude-8.4 earthquake that struck Sumatra, Indonesia, on Sept. 12, 2007, was the largest of four magnitude~8 earthquakes that have occurred worldwide since January. It generated a series of aftershocks, including a magnitude 6.0. Late the same day there was another earthquake (7.9) in Kepulauan Mentawai region, also in Indonesia. One of numerous aftershocks measured 7.0.

Revelation

Because I believe that the prophecy of Revelation is time bound, and that we are near the end time, this increase in large earthquakes in 2007 should be noted. In three verses of the prophecy of Revelation “a great earthquake” is mentioned: Rev 6:12; 11:13 and 16:18. According to my understanding of Revelation all three these verses relate to the final time: that is the time that we can measure (Rev 6:12 and 16:18) and the very final time that we may not measure (Rev 11:13).

In Scripture great alterations and changes are expressed by a shaking of the earth. The delivering of the Israelites out of Egypt is called a moving or shaking of the earth. Heb 12:25-26 “See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall we not escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven. Whose voice then shook the earth.”

An extraordinary and unexpected alteration in the state of affairs, civil or ecclesiastical, is represented by a great earthquake. Ps 69:8 “The earth shook and the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was also moved at the presence of God.”

Therefore it should be noted that large earthquakes have occurred at the time of the massacre at Nineveh and at the time that the leadership of the nations are making important decisions on the course forward in the Iraq war and factors causing tensions in the Middle East.

In Rev 16: 17-18 the words “voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne” and “voices” are linked to the time of a great earthquake. I believe the nations should also note that this is also the time of great advancement in man’s “power to give life” (Rev 13:15). As I mentioned in the previous post, I believe that Revelation sounds a warning concerning biological -engineering.

This knowledge in addition to the fact that geologists are at the present time concerned that the area of Indonesia, in which there have been great earthquakes, there at some point (that may be the near future) may be a tectonic plate shift that can cause a really big quake is significant.
