Good morning, Dr Janson. I have missed your presence
on the site for the last two months. I hope you are
in good health?

I came across a remark by Bill Bonner of the Daily
Reckoning which I had to bring to your attention. It
just might have something to do with the end of days.
Mr Bonner opined that 'the internet is a dud'. He
said this because he thinks that it is now becoming
clear that the internet affects our quality of life in
many ways, but not our standard of living. The
presence of the internet does not lead to the increased
production of physical things, in his opinion.

If this is true, it strikes me that it leads to a
number of important questions, such as:

Is the internet turning out to be one of those things
of which the advantages are immediately obvious, but of
which the disadvantages take time to appear?

Could the disadvantages of the internet include the
subtle sowing of distraction, addiction,
depersonalization of relationships, reduction of
attention spans, and general reduction of quiet times
in our lives. Could the internet be,in fact, the
equivalent of TV on steroids?

Could the internet be a very powerful tool in Satan's
hands to focus us on this world rather than on the
Kingdom of God?

Yours in curmudgeonly fashion,

C.
