I have shown on this Forum, through time measurement, Scripture and history, why I believe we are now in the time of the Fall of Babylon. The purpose of this post is to see what Revelation reveals in Chapter 18 to substantiate this and to what lies ahead.

(Have the book Revelation at hand in order to see references in other chapters referred to in this post.)

Light from God

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.”

In all the gloom of the present plague and lockdown, note that this angel lights up the earth with its glory. (Rev 21:23 “the glory of God did lighten it”) Through the repetition of words in Revelation, we can know that it is light from God. Therefore, a light from God to those that face death at this time.

The fall of the world markets in late February 2020

Rev 18:2 “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.”
God has determined that the nations are corrupt. If he had not intervened no one would have been saved.

Remember that the time measures of Revelation have indicated that God has ‘shortened the days’ (Mat 24:22) by eight years. Revelation reveals and confirms that if the days were not shortened no one would have been saved.

Matthew 24:22 “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake, those days will be shortened.”
Just to recap: the “three days and a half”’ (Rev 11:9 and 11) measured in the first and in the second millennium ended in 2004. Then it is indicated that the “outer court” of the temple must not be measured (Rev 11:2). With the measure of “one hour” (which is 24 years) Revelation then measures from 1996 (the end of the second thousand years, measured from 4BC the time of the birth of Jesus Christ according to the calendar in 2020) up to 2020, the time of the ‘fall of Babylon’. I believe that this understanding is confirmed by the words “one hour” in Rev 18:10,17 and 19.

“Come out of her my people”

Rev 8:4 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.”

“Another voice”

Revelation seems to substantiate that two measures of time determine that we are in the time of the “Fall of Babylon”. The words “another voice” in Revelation indicates another time measure. This is correct. The two measures of time are the “forty and two months” (Rev 11:2) measured from 27 August 2016, the time of the Venus-Jupiter conjunction, until 27 February 2020 and the “one hour” (Rev 18:10) from 1996 to 2020.

Readers will recall Rev 11:1 “Measure the temple of God and the altar”, the measure of “one hour” from 1996 to 2020 also revealed the time of “half an hour” (Rev 8:1). The time of “half an hour” is brought into relation with “the altar” in Rev 8:1.

All the time measures that confirm the Fall of Babylon also indicate that the time to take true believers out of the great city has arrived.

Rev 18:6 “Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.”

Revelation confirms Rev 17:18 that the corrupt ‘woman’ is the ‘great city’.

“In one day”

Rev 18:9 “Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her."

At the present time, the words, “in one day” in this verse are of great significance because it seems to indicate that we are in the “one thousand, two hundred and threescore days” (Rev 11:3).

Rev 18:9 “And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.”

“For in one hour is thy judgement come”

We have to take a closer look at these words. The words “Fear God and give glory to him, for the hour of his judgement is come:” appear in Rev 14:7. Then in Rev 14:8 “And there followed another angel saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen”. I do not know this for sure, but we may be in the time of the ‘reaping’ (Rev 14:15-19). This may be the reason for the repetition of the word “one hour” in three verses Rev 18:10, 18:17 and 18:19. It is possible that the spread of the virus across the globe, with peak times in various countries in 2020, may be what is revealed through the repetition of “one hour”. I say this because we may be in the “the one thousand, two hundred and threescore days”. Also, because the time measures of Revelation are coming together.

Note how the merchandise mentioned in the following verses move from non-perishables to perishables and larger goods, indicating trade over almost two millennia. Through the words; “slaves” and “souls of men” Revelation reveals how world trade in these, in centuries past, need mentioning in the time of the fall.

Plague effects world trade

Rev 18:11 “And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.”

Mankind sought luxury goods and dainties

Rev 14:14 “And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!”

Revelation repeats “one hour”

The repetition, as mentioned above, could be the effect of the plague during 2020, moving across the seas to the nations of the globe in three phases.
Rev 18:17 “For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.”

God has avenged the death of the apostles and prophets

Rev 18:20 “Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.”

With violence

Rev 18:21 “And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all."

Stone

The word "stone" has great symbolic meaning in Scripture. I believe all these meanings come into play to reveal the clash of ideologies and beliefs ("violence") in the time to come.

Rev 18:22 "And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”
