It must be admitted that we deal more with opinions than provable facts. From the transliterated Greek word "Armageddon" we can only make reasonable assumptions, as preferring HAR (mountain), or ARAM (Syria). But be that as it may, a solid conclusion is that Armageddon does NOT specifically target Israel: not modern Israel nor any assumed 'greater' Israel. As part of Revelation's end-time scenario of plagues sent by God THE ONLY TARGET IS THE ANTICHRIST EMPIRE, and the Eastern army raised up by God for this purpose is what causes the battle of Armageddon.

Seen in this way, Armageddon is not a war against any part of Israel: not modern Israel nor any 'greater' nation of Israel (such as America). As I see it, if any of Israel's descendants are part of this war they would more likely be part of the Eastern army raised up by God. (God only opens rivers for His people.) Armageddon is a war specially sent by God to destroy the end-time antichrist empire, and it will succeed.
